Robert & Hannah’s Old Oak Farm Wedding: Sunshine, Showers, and a Whole Lot of Fun
Unexpected Moments, Unforgettable Vibes
If there’s one thing we know about weddings, it’s that the best moments are the ones you don’t see coming. Robert and Hannah’s day at Old Oak Farm in Somerset was packed with exactly that: surprise rain showers, spontaneous dance moves, and good vibes from start to finish.
We kicked things off with a beautiful summer morning, but it wasn’t long before the clouds rolled in. When the rain came, umbrellas went up, and these two legends embraced it like pros. Dancing in the rain? Iconic energy. It’s moments like this that make us love being wedding photographers—capturing real, unfiltered moments.
The day was filled with moments that perfectly reflected Robert and Hannah’s vibe—chilled, fun, and totally in the moment. From the hilarious speeches that had everyone in stitches to the sun coming back out just in time for games on the lawn, it was a day that felt both relaxed and full of energy.
Watching Nan getting stuck into a game of cricket with the rest of the family. It’s always those little moments that end up being treasured memories to look back on. Everyone was having fun, playing games, and just enjoying the celebration together.
By the time the evening rolled around, it was clear that these guys were here for a party. Inflatable guitars made their way to the dancefloor (always a win), and Robert and Hannah’s friends and family proved they had moves for days. There’s something about capturing those wild, unplanned moments—air guitar solos, epic singalongs, and barn dance floor chaos—that just makes our job as wedding photographers so much fun.

Briefly, how did you guys meet?
We met across the dance floor in Palace nightclub in our home town having both come back from uni in the summer of 2018. Despite growing up in the same town and going to the same school this was actually the first time we’d ever met! I also did not actually remember Rob’s name after that night and he had to remind me when we next met up
What was the inspiration for your wedding?
We just went with what we liked and thought was pretty! We wanted our wedding to be authentically us. We knew we didn’t want anything too formal and loved the rustic vibe of Old Oak so we built it up from there. We’re both Somerset born and bred so I guess we tried to keep it outdoorsy and in keeping with our roots. I asked my mum for flowers in sunset colours, mostly because I liked them but also because the sunset held meaning for us as we finished our first date and got engaged at sunset.
Tell us about your ceremony & your wedding reception
We got legally married before the ‘big day’ meaning we could do whatever we liked with our wedding ceremony! We asked Rob’s godmother Claire to be our ‘celebrant’ as she has been there for us throughout our relationship and is definitely not afraid of talking in front of a crowd. We actually proposed to her on one knee with a lollipop ring by way of asking her to do this for us. Claire took us for lunch dates and we talked about how and what we wanted for our ceremony which was so fun. Our ceremony was personal and unique to us, we kept it short and sweet. We didn’t have to worry about legal wording or signing the documents on the day as you would with a registrar which kept it super relaxed. We asked Robs sister Helen to do a reading for us, we read our own vows and Claire surprised us by writing a short spiel on our love story. We had full faith she would nail it and she absolutely did. Our friends Georgie and Will sang and played piano for Robs choice of the walking down the aisle song. It was all just super special.
We had envisioned a sunny summers day for our wedding reception and being able to play French cricket, a much loved sport of Robs family. Although we had a bit rain on the day it didn’t stop the cricket! We wanted the reception to be all about good food and company. Rebecca was amazing at helping us design our own menu for the day which we loved. We decided to have a sharing feast which made our wedding breakfast more relaxed and sociable. We made our own playlist with some of our favourite songs. In the evening we had a DJ to spin some of our favourite tunes after writing quite a list of ‘must plays’. My cousin Sophie led a dance routine to 5,6,7,8! We had dancefloor props to play with and a VW campervan Photo Booth. We loved a photobooth when we first started going out so had to have one for our wedding!
What was your favourite part of planning your wedding?
Honestly everything, it was stressful at times of course but we loved curating a day to represent us and our love alongside Rebecca at Old Oak who helped our vision come to life as well as involving family and friends who all had special roles. We loved building a menu of our favourite foods for the day and spending one night a week (when we remembered!) choreographing and practicing the dance. Han enjoyed doing some wedding DIYs such as bunting, signage and mirror table plan
Do you have any regrets or things you wish you knew before planning a wedding?
Rob wishes he had broken in his shoes!
Looking back on your wedding now, what was the most memorable moments?
Every moment! A few standouts for us were…
Walking down the aisle, the dip drop! running through the rain, French cricket in the field, our first dance
What were some of the best decisions you made when planning your wedding day?
Booking Old Oak Farm and Simon and Kiana of course, the first two and best two decisions ever
We also weren’t originally going to have a videographer but we are SO glad we had Kien to capture the day in motion too
Rob says his bow tie was his best decision (following his choice of bride obvs)
The last minute booking of the photo booth
If you had any advice for future bride & grooms, what would that be?
Make a joint email account for wedmin
If you think it’s too early to do something it’s probably not, you’re on wedding time meaning everything is booked 1yr+ in advance so get stuff done so you can chill and enjoy it all!
Stick to your guns when making decisions about YOUR day, other people’s opinions can be valued but don’t always matter if it’s what you truly want
Don’t scrimp on photo/video of your day, it only happens once and you will thank yourself for capturing it so you can relive the best day of your lives
Enjoy yourselves!!!
