A Fun, Tipi Wedding at The Ridgeway Barns: Elliott & Georgia
As wedding photographers, we absolutely love when a couple’s personality shines through in every detail of their day. This Tipi wedding at The Ridgeway Barns in Wiltshire was the perfect example of a relaxed, joyful celebration filled with love and laughter. From glitter stations to furry friends, every moment was fun and full of energy—and we were so thrilled to be there to capture it all.
The Wedding Venue : The Ridgeway Barns
Nestled in the stunning Wiltshire countryside, The Ridgeway Barns provided the perfect setting for a relaxed wedding, that held everything in one location, keeping everyone together.. The Tipi created a cozy yet stylish atmosphere, and the overcast sky gave us that perfect soft light that we absolutely love for wedding photos. It was a dreamy backdrop for a relaxed day of fun.
The Reception: Relaxed, Fun, and Full of Love
The reception at The Ridgeway Barns was everything we love about weddings—relaxed, joyful, and full of energy. The couple’s guests were clearly having the time of their lives, and we were right there capturing every moment. We are a husband and wife team, so it is quite easy for us to blend in at weddings as a couple ourselves! We love to be in the thick of it at a wedding, but rather than making the whole day a photo session, we mingle with family & friends, allowing everyone to feel comfortable at a wedding & let the natural moments happen.
We made sure to sneak in some relaxed family photos too—nothing too posed, just a few beautiful, natural moments with loved ones, enjoying the day. These are the kind of photos that people look back on and remember the day with all its laughter and love.
Should I invite my dog to my wedding? Yes.
As wedding photographers with two dogs of our own, we have a soft spot for pets, and when couples bring their dogs along, we’re in our element! This couple’s fur babies were an absolute joy to photograph. Whether they were posing for the camera or just hanging out with their humans, their little faces added so much heart to the day. It's a perfect opportunity to have some professional photos taken with them & it just happens to be on the best day of your life too. Just make sure someone is taking care of them for you, hire a dog chaperone! - We just know these photos will be cherished forever.
Party time, A Champagne Tower & A Glitter Station, what a night!
One of the highlights of the evening was definitely the glitter station! We’ve seen a lot of fun ideas, but this one truly stole the show. All of the guests sparkled from head to toe, and we loved capturing the laughter and excitement as everyone joined in on the fun. It’s these little touches that make a wedding so unique and memorable!
Elliott & Georgia
Briefly, how did you guys meet?
We met in same Biology class at college, through a mutual friend. But started dating a couple of years later when were both at uni at different ends of the country. We ended up driving hours every weekend just to meet halfway.
When did you guys start planning your wedding?
We got engaged at Perranporth beach in Cornwall, and started planning the wedding a couple of months later in late 2022.
How long did it take you to find your perfect wedding venue?
The venue was one of the first things we decided on actually! We viewed a couple of different places but after visiting The Ridgeway Barns we knew straight away it was the perfect venue. We knew we wanted our reception to be held in tipis, but also having the option at the venue for a more traditional ceremony space. Ridgeway ticked every box.
How would you describe your wedding theme? What was the inspiration?
We really wanted the theme to reflect the beauty of the venue and the season, with a lot of a natural colours and tones, and lush dense flowers. The most important thing for us was that everyone felt relaxed enough to let their hair down, as well as the day reflecting us as a couple.
Tell us about your ceremony & your wedding reception
We had our ceremony in the main barn, with a short civil celebration, including readings from each of our mums. It's a good thing it was only 30 minutes because we'd completely run out of tears by the end!
Our reception then was out on the lawn behind the main farmhouse, with tipis set up to provide a covered space for the wedding breakfast, dancefloor, and bar. Food was catered by a vendor local to us who we've known for years which added a really personal touch for us.
Into the evening we had a vintage camper van arrive which doubled as a photo booth, and a glitter artist who did an incredible job getting our guests glammed up!
I don't think we've ever danced so much or had as much fun. It really was the best day of our lives!
What was your favourite part of planning your wedding?
Working with our vendors on the more detailed planning. Every time we met with them brought on all the excitement, and made the countdown even harder! We were so lucky to be able to lean on them and all of their expertise, and a lot of the small details that made the day so special came from ideas in these calls and meetings. We couldn't have done it without them.
Do you have any regrets or things you wish you knew before planning a wedding?
We can honestly say we have no regrets from the day itself, it was absolutely perfect for us. In hindsight, we wish we'd decided on what to delegate sooner and include people earlier in the planning. Getting people involved earlier allows them to share in your excitement too!
Looking back on your wedding now, what was the most memorable moments?
Almost too many to mention! Seeing each other down the aisle for the first time and instantly bursting into tears.
Realising halfway down the column of our friends and family that we'd gone overkill on the confetti and getting absolutely covered. We were finding bits for weeks!
Watching people get more and more adventurous with the glitter artists... Enough said there 😂.
Finally it was getting the first previews (and then full gallery) from Simon and Kiana, and having perfectly reflected to us not only how lucky we were to have them capture our day, but being transported straight back into the best day of our lives.
What were some of the best decisions you made when planning your wedding day?
For us, making sure that we made time every week (Wedding Wednesdays!) to do a bit on the planning little and often. It meant that we never had a huge deadline we were behind on and made the whole process much more enjoyable.
If you had any advice for future bride & grooms, what would that be?
For wedding planning, there are no shortage of beautiful weddings out there, and it can be overwhelming when trying to decide on so many wonderful options. Make sure to trust your instincts, and make sure your day reflects the most important people there; you as a couple.
