Quantock Lakes Wedding Venue | Real Wedding - Frankie & Becky
Quantock Lakes Wedding Venue Somerset, Real Wedding
Frankie & Becky's wedding day at Quantock Lakes based in Somerset was the most stunning day to capture. Full of energy, love & surrounded by the most welcoming people. From the first email to the many shots on the dance floor on the night of the wedding, Frankie & Becky have been an absolute dream of a couple to work with. Ever since we met Frankie & Becky, for a coffee in Bristol during their planning process, we had been looking forward to capturing their wedding day at Quantock Lakes. A couple coffee dates and an engagement session later, we built an amazing relationship with them both, which also turned into a great friendship. We were absolutely buzzing to capture their day, check it out below and read all about their wedding day.
When did you start planning your wedding?
If you were to ask Becky - “We were super relaxed and didn’t start planning until a couple of months after our engagement.”
If you were to ask Frankie- “She started planning it 1 hour AFTER I proposed!!!.”
We probably properly started 16 months before the wedding.
How long did it take you to find your perfect wedding venue?
It was about a month. There was LOTS of internet research and exchanging emails. Our requirements were quite specific, so our options were narrowed down quite a lot. We viewed 3 venues in total and fell in love with Quantock Lakes as soon as we went there. It was everything we could have wanted, a beautiful barn setting and most importantly, wheelchair accessible.
How would you describe your wedding theme? What was the inspiration?
Rustic barn-themed, country vibes, warm and fun. Not sure if fun is a theme, but that was the goal. We just always wanted everyone to have a fun day.
Tell us about your ceremony & your wedding reception
We had just under 100 people, including ourselves, in the Rusty Barn of Quantock Lakes with greens and pinks, dried flowers, and a cute little stool for Becky to eye level with her handsome husband-to-be (can you tell Frankie wrote this part?). It was a humanist ceremony and we had a reading from Frankie’s sister and Becky’s grandad. It was also important to us that our guests were included in our ceremony, so we asked them to take a community vow to love and support us.
We had canapés and drinks at our reception, with a chance to play some lawn games. This was a chance for us to sneak off and have a photoshoot of the two of us while our guests mingled.
Do you have any regrets or things you wish you knew before planning a wedding?
Things will go wrong! But it will be a funny story. We planned so much but it was the spontaneous UNPLANNED parts of the day that were the best. Just let the moments happen!
Looking back on your wedding now, what was the most memorable moments?
So many things!!!!
We loved everyone we loved coming together. We loved seeing our visions become real. We loved the rouge moments and the moments we didn't plan. We loved our first dance. We loved all the music we chose throughout the day. We loved the party and the band, and partied HARD. But most of all we just had fun the whole day and just genuinely enjoyed it.
What were some of the best decisions you made when planning your wedding day?
Choosing our bridal party! We are blessed to have so many lovely friends and family, so picking them wasn’t easy but we chose the ones we thought would be there for us the most and support us through the planning and on the day.
Two of the decisions we made that made the day the best possible could be was our amazing venue, and… not just because this is their blog, but finding and choosing Simon and Kiana as our photographers. They honestly helped to steer the day and always brought the energy and good vibes! Our venue and Simon + Kiana made the day completely flawless so we didn't have to think about a thing.
If you had any advice for future bride & grooms, what would that be?
Choose the people that will be there for you on the day, that will support you through the highs and the lows, and go with any of your weird and wonderful ideas, no matter how embarrassing.
-Research your vendors!!! If you find the right vendors they will run your day for you won’t have to worry about a thing.
-Things will go wrong! Embrace it, trust me it will be a funny story one day.
-Just remember why you are getting married, it's about you and your partner! Don't get caught up on your great aunt's cousin's opinion.
